Why The Old Way of Finding a
Pre-Qualified MLM Sales Lead Doesn't Work
...and What I Discovered That
Does Work! When
I first started in network marketing, I did everything
that my upline told me to do to find the all-elusive MLM sales
lead. I was the
perfect and dedicated student for learning how to get MLM leads for
less.
Goodness was I in for a surprise!
At the suggestion of my upline, my
list of 100 people
that I knew or ever knew was urgently
prepared (at least I didn’t have to do
a MLM lead purchase – not yet anyway).
"My
nervous stomach, sweaty palms, and dry
mouth were all for
naught ...
...I
was
becoming someone who I did not like"
Included
in this list, was my mailman,
bank
teller, the local
grocery checker, friends from
high school, distant
family members who I
had not spoken with in years and anyone who
came within three feet of
me.
I Just Had to Persuade
Them...Right?
I was
determined! Once they were
within my three-foot range, I
had to persuade them, miraculously, that
I had the best thing on the market since ice cubes.
Oh, dear, the three-foot
rule theory. Yes,
I got up the nerve to try it – many times over!
Not
only did it NOT work for me, it
made
me do things that I despised people doing to me.
My nervous
stomach, sweaty
palms, and dry
mouth were all for
naught, in attempting to uncover fresh daily MLM leads and I was
becoming someone who I did not like.
Not to mention, I was making the mistake of
almost all network marketers, and that was, thinking everyone wanted my
product.
Now don’t get me wrong, I know that 3%
(yes, that is a
frightening statistic) of those who join a network marketing business
will succeed using this plan of action, but selling 24 hours a day to
any unsuspecting friend, acquaintance, or stranger just made me, quite
frankly, uncomfortable.
This
warm market venture securing a low
cost MLM lead
actually cost me a lot in frayed nerves, sleepless nights, and
anxiousness.
I’d awake each morning, with my first
thoughts being, “Who
could I approach today? “ And “How would I find a true pre-qualified
MLM lead, who needed me?”
Working 24 hours a day, by “sharing” my
product with any
being that had the misfortune of coming within three feet of me,
was
not for me.
Of
course, you’ll eventually find a few MLM prospect leads,
this way, but I needed some high quality MLM leads on a regular basis
to get my downline growing fast.
Just
Believing In My Product Line Wasn't a Sure MLM Lead Generator
Either
Believing
in my product line and
being a user of it,
didn’t guarantee me fresh daily MLM leads either. In fact, the more I
talked to my friends and family, the more distant they became
and
more disillusioned I became about finding success and finding
targeted MLM leads.
I was getting desperate and bolder
in my
quest for a MLM sales lead.
"I
was a pitiful site ... thinking
that everyone I met was going to be a MLM
opportunity lead"
If a neighbor drove by
while I was watering
the front yard,
I’d flag him down.
Here he was my MLM lead opportunity for whom I had
been waiting.
Smiling, the poor soul came unsuspecting.
Then smack, I’d
hit
him across the head with my business building opportunity,
and then the
old familiar glaze or deer in the headlight look would surface.
His smile disappeared, his eyes darted
frantically for a way
out of his predicament, while I closed in with my net to capture this
MLM sales lead (or so I recklessly thought).
Neighbors
quit stopping by to say hello –
in fact, I think
they waited around the corner, to watch me step inside the house, so I
couldn’t chase after them!
Then
they would speed
by, literally flying over that speed bump in the road, to run from the
new neighborhood network marketer.
Poor
Alicia! What a pitiful site, trying to solicit her
friends, and thinking that everyone she met was going to be a MLM
opportunity lead. What had I
become in this home based business?
Where
would I find my lead MLM source? Is this
what they meant by MLM targeted leads?
My
Frustration Grew and Time Was Running Out!
Selling
my business opportunity became my number one
priority. It didn’t matter that my prospect wasn’t interested. I just
thought they didn’t know any better, couldn’t see the “light” on
network marketing or they just were not a hot MLM lead.
My
upline kept telling me to
“just do more”.
More what though?
Okay
– I’m game, whatever “what”
was.
I wanted to be a true MLM lead generating machine, but I just wasn't
looking in the right places (brother was that the truth!).
Badgering my friends and family might work.
Unfortunately, I
badgered, and it didn’t work either.
Oh, my goodness! Where had
this
network marketing business led me astray?
Was
I chasing people? Was I
obnoxious? How fraught had I become to find business builders and build
a downline?
Did I need to resort to a MLM lead
purchase? And where would
I begin to purchase MLM leads? Were any MLM lead generation programs
out there? Was a MLM lead seminar the answer?
Purchase
MLM Leads?
Okay, I
tried it and found that even the MLM
lead company that performed the telephone interviews was
struggling to find quality leads.
Companies that had MLM leads for sale,
would advertise, and
ask people if they would like to make $5,000 to $10,000 a month. If
someone responded favorably to this ad they would instantly
become
a MLM marketing lead.
Unfortunately,
for me, they were not pre-qualified
MLM leads.
I did a lead MLM purchase and fell for it
hook, line, and
sinker. I was fishing in that big ocean – trying to catch the
slippery fish.
I
discovered rude and
nasty people, phone clicks (the
sound I heard when people hung up on me), and for me just plain
old-fashioned frustration
and fatigue.
Have
you ever experienced this? Do you dread making phone calls using this
type of a MLM leads source?
Oh, this network marketing business
couldn’t get any worse.
Trying to find sales leads for network marketing began to be the
most challenging job I had ever performed. Why
could I not convince someone to invest and buy what I was
selling? Did I need MLM lead training? How could I make MLM lead
generation work?
I
Did Anything to Secure Sales Leads
I
thought maybe I was just losing
motivation or steam and so
I...
- Attended
the rah-rah hotel meetings
- Put business cards on
windshields in parking lots
- Made fliers (hundreds
and hundreds of them!)
I
even considered walking through the yellow pages. Talk about
desperation!
OPENING MY
HOME TO STRANGERS
I
opened my home to the public to generate
a pre-qualified MLM lead. Yes, I had an open house, inviting strangers
and anyone who I
could drag through my front door.
INVENTORY
Literally,
thousands
of dollars of inventory lined every
single table, counter top, and floor space in my home. Even the dog’s
bed wasn’t safe from me displaying my product line.
Each
month I continued to purchase my own products to
make my quota, and my household cabinets and drawers were bursting with
inventory. My credit
card balances continued to climb each month, while
I searched for my innocent pre-qualified leads. All
in time, I thought, once I find a MLM business lead, then
they’ll get two friends to do the business and those two friends get
two...,
Oh, dear, you’ve fallen for that
too?
Nevertheless,
I remained diligent in my search for a
pre-qualified MLM lead because I believed in the network marketing
industry. I wanted to make a successful home based business, and I
could not, and would not, face failure.
So,
I Stopped Being Lead and Started to Lead!
I was
desperate to learn how to generate pre-qualified MLM leads.
Stepping
back from the big
picture, and remembering that
even
the simplest marketing plan will focus on a targeted audience,
instead of assuming that
everyone is a target, was my first step in the
right direction to uncover my pre-qualified MLM lead.
Let’s
step back to November of
2006. I was truly in the
red with my network marketing business. God bless my
husband for
supporting me and believing in me. He consoled me daily, while I prayed
daily for success. Everything I had tried had failed. I
had contacted
every single person on my list of 100,
not just once or twice, but multiple times, and sadly, as many as 17
times to one friend.
After
all of this, I discovered that my best MLM sales lead would
be one who came to me. Then I
did what any self-respecting person would do – I performed a Google
search on the Internet.
I needed to generate my own MLM
sales lead, and not just any MLM sales lead, but a
pre-qualified MLM lead.
Now, to be a true MLM lead generator, how was I
going to
promote myself to others. Would I post my notice
on grocery
store or church bulletin boards?
Nope,
I needed to think more
like a
true entrepreneur, and go outside my comfort zone,
and learn some
skills to secure those MLM sales leads.
What I
uncovered, I will believe for the rest of my life,
was
an answer from God.
